I was diagnosed with endometriosis in May of 1998, at the age of 21. I had been misdiagnosed for three years, with numerous doctors telling me that my pain was pelvic inflammatory disease (even though there was no infection found), and, at some points, that the pain was "all in my head". At one point, when I asked a doctor if I could have endo, he laughed and said I was too young. I am somewhat relieved to finally have a diagnosis, but living with the pain is not fun. I am currently on the pill but it doesn't seem to be working anymore so I will have to consider laporoscopy. Doctors don't know if or to what point my fertility has been affected but I have scar tissue on my ovaries from cysts. Thank god I have an understanding husband. Peace and love to all.
