Klimb Kilimanjaro and raise awareness of endometriosis

Kilimanjaro conquered to raise money for awareness of endometriosis

An international group of physicians, women with endometriosis, their families, and friends climbed Kilimanjaro on 26 February - 7 March, and raised over £22,000 for the National Endometriosis Society (NES) in the United Kingdom.

Of the 13 who took part, 11 made it up the mountain with nine making it all the way to the summit and another two to Gilman’s Point. This included five women with endometriosis (three made it to the summit) with another just 200m short before falling ill. This is a really positive story and these role models should provide much hope for all women with endo all around the world.

In the summit photo are Jenny, Mandy and Lottie, along with Rob (CEO of the NES), Andrew (Chair of the NES), Richard and Graham (businessmen), Janesh (gynaecologist) and Claude (tour manager). Also in the photo are some of the guides who helped us up the mountain. Another team member, Carlo, reached the summit, but was on his way down the mountain when the photo was taken.

Congratulations to everyone who took part in the event!  It is not too late to donate money to the National Endometriosis Society for their awareness programme in honour of this spectacular climb!

Comment:

I would just like to say a huge thank you to the men and (most importantly) the women, some of whom were endometriosis sufferers, who climbed Kilimanjaro in order to raise both awareness and funds for endometriosis.
