Professor Charles Chapron

Born on July 1959, and graduated from Lille University of Medicine in 1991, Charles Chapron was named a University Professor in Paris in 1999.

Coordinator of the teaching program of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Cochin Port-Royal Faculty of Medicine, Chairman of two University diplomas, Director of several medical thesis, Professor Charles Chapron has authored and co-authored about 220 peer-reviewed papers in national and international scientific journals concerning surgical laparoscopy in gynecology, reproductive medicine and endometriosis, and more than 410 scientific presentations on national and international meetings.
He is the coordinator of 7 scientific books and the author of more than 70 chapters in other scientific books.

Professor Chapron is a reviewer for a number of journals including Human Reproduction, British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, The Journal of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology, Gynecologic and Obstetric Investigation, Gynaecological Endoscopy and Gynécologie Obstétrique et Fertilité.

He is the Secretary General of the French Society of Endoscopy in Gynecology (SFEG), the Associate Secretary General of the Francophonic International Society of Pelvic Surgery (SIFCP), and the Co-ordinator of the Special Interest Group (SIG) of Reproductive Surgery of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE).

Professor Charles Chapron is also a Member of several national and international Societies including the French National Academy of Surgery, the International Society for Gynaecologic Endoscopy (ISGE), the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), the European Society for Gynecological Endoscopy (ESGE), the French National Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the French National College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

During the last decade, Professor Chapron has been intensively working in Baudelocque University Clinic, Cochin University Hospital, together with a highly specialized team in endoscopic surgery on the problem of endometriosis, the assessment and the surgical treatment of this disease.
