Lone Hummelshøj
Lone Hummelshøj was
the managing editor of EndometriosisZone.org from 2002-2004, during which the
site grew to over 27,000 registered users with 150,000+ page views a month.
Lone co-founded the Danish Endometriosis Society (Endometriose Foreningen) in 1997, and went on to chair it for seven years. During this time she was instrumental in the implementation of national guidelines for the treatment of endometriosis (the only country in the world to have these). She also produced 34 newsletters, oversaw four national information campaigns (with appropriate marketing collaterol and serious media attention), and co-organised, co-chaired, and presented at nine national meetings.
Lone is a known authority on endometriosis and is a member of the Special Interest
Group of the Endometriois of the European Society of Human Reproduction and
Endocrinology (ESHRE), where she is co-authoring pan-European guidelines for
the treatment of endometriosis. She liases regulaly with the WHO and the EU
to improve legislation for those with this disease. She has published
extensively, has presented
at congresses in in Europe, North America, Africa, and Asia, and remains a valued
congress organiser and
facilitator.
In October 2004, she instigated, organised, raised funds for, and faciliated the founding meeting of the European Endometriosis Alliance where 19 representatives from 12 organisations in 11 countries were represented and agreed on a mutual agenda to move endometriosis-awareness forward i Europe.
Since 1996 Lone has run her own business development consultancy firm from London,
England, where she specialises in business development, strategic planning, sales and marketing,
project management, and facilitation. She is known for making things
happen.
Prior to starting her own company, Lone was a senior salesman with IBM,
working with some of its largest clients within the financial services industry
in Europe.
